On Sunday, the official schedule for Otakon 2008 was released. It is available in web form and a printable PDF form. Please note, it is subject to change at any time. Some panels may change to different time or cancel altogether. I’m not going to list every panel I’m going to, but I’m going to show you a selection of my “sure” picks.
The journey to Otakon 2008 – Planning Strategies.
August 5th, 2008 — Anime, Conventions, Otakon
The journey to Otakon 2008 – Sleeping ain’t easy.
July 28th, 2008 — Anime, Conventions, Otakon, personal
It’s about 10 days until Otakon 2008, the biggest East Asian (Anime, Manga, J-pop, etc) pop-culture convention on the east coast. An estimated 23,000 will once again invade the Baltimore inner harbor, many cosplaying their favorite characters and freaking out the locals at the same time. Well, at least they are keeping your tourism industry from going under, so why complain? At least they’re not furries.
Since I wait at the last minute for booking a hotel room, rooming up with like-minded individuals strangers is my only option if I want a good night’s rest. That’s why I had to go and get an airbed so I don’t wake up with back pain in the morning. At first, I wanted to get the Eddie Bauer airbed from Target, but I realized you needed 4 D batteries in order to blow up the thing. Just more hidden costs that companies love to pass on to the consumer. So I got the “Greatland” store branded double twin bed along with an electric pump you plug in.
Speaking of Otakon, the panels schedule is out. Looks like I will be attending many of the industry panels once more. I find them much more fascinating than the so-called “fan panels”. The majority of them are not entertaining and some should learn how to speak in front of the public. In the future, I will talk about the panels that I will most likely be attending.
