I hate saying goodbye to most things that I cling on to. I really hate saying goodbye to products that I give a really good chance of acceptance. I’ve dealt with Antec for power supplies for my PC two times and that didn’t work out. I went with Cooler Master for a new PC case and that didn’t work out. Windows Vista? Need I say more.
I waited for 5 hours in the January cold waiting to buy a Nintendo Wii in 2007. “WiiSports” captured my interest for about 2 days, “The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess” was freakin’ amazing and so were “Super Mario Galaxy” and “No More Heroes”. After nearly two years of owning this system I can no longer find any compelling reason to keep this it in my house.
Now, I understand that Nintendo makes great 1st Party games, but you can tire of the usual Mario and Zelda hegemony. Its online components pale in comparison to Sony and Microsoft’s efforts. Why should the Wii “Friend Code” be like getting someone’s phone number and why can’t I store games I purchased on the Virtual Console on an SD card or hard drive? In early 2008, I have owned every current gen console, including portables. My Wii is the least played and the fewest games purchased out of all of the systems – even my PSP!
From new ways to clutter up a room with useless peripherals (WiiFit) to press conferences that embarrass and patronize their core audience (WiiMusic), it is abundantly clear that Nintendo no longer cares about the gamers that grew up in the ’80s who are now old enough to actually afford all this stuff. Look what happened to that UK Nintendo publication that shut down because “Nintendo has moved away from the hardcore gaming community.” That and the WiiMusic E3 debacle speaks volumes.
Right now, I have my Wii up for auction on eBay. I’m sure it will find a loving home somewhere in America. Preferably, a home that is 1) A family with lots of kids or 2) Real HARDCORE Nintendo fanboys who will blindly buy anything blessed with the red and white logo of approval. As for me, I will finally join 21st century gaming.
Oh, yeah, if you wanna call me a Sony or Microsoft fanboy, that’s fine. I will still keep my Nintendo DS around to appease you

What became of the Sonichu comic series ? I found it interesting. Maybe it’s because it’s like my own effort: ANIMALS COMICS that ran 101 issues(some planned, some partly drawn, some -esp. near the end- fully drawn.
If the series ever gets rebooted, some characters (Plasma) will not make the cut, many incidents and story arcs will also not make the cut (the Jug monster and just about all super-heroics). I’m sticking to funny stories and light drama.
